Certified General Accountants Association of Canada
Formed in 1908 to promote professionalism among accountants. Chartered by an Act of Parliment in 1913, incorporating the CGA as a self-regulating professional Association was passed by the House of Commons in Ottawa. CGA works in patnerships its provincial and territorial Associations.

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants
CICA Celebrates 100 Years
The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) celebrates its centenary year beginning on May 15, 2002. Over the past 100 years, the CICA, originally established as the Dominion Association of Chartered Accountants in 1902, has evolved from a relatively small organization representing approximately 200 members, to a strong and influential force representing 68,000 chartered accountants and 8,000 students in Canada and Bermuda.
The production of the CICA Handbook in 1968, established the Institute as a leading force committed to excellence in standard setting. As such, the CICA has become an internationally respected organization whose leadership role in standard setting is recognized worldwide.
