The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) represents national accountancy organisation in the Asia-Pacific region. Today, CAPA has a membership of 34 accountancy organisations in 24 jurisdictions. CAPA is by far the largest regional accountancy organisation and its geographical area spans half the globe!
The idea of CAPA was conceived at the First Far East Conference of Accountants that was held from November 28 to December 1, 1957 in Manila, Philippines. However, it was only in 1976 that the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants was formally established.

CAPA is pleased to announce Keith Wedlock as the new Deputy President. It was a significant result as elections took place at the May 2010 Board meeting in Wellington, New Zealand. Keith will serve as Deputy President until September 2011, and following convention, as President for the next two years.
Keith was appointed by the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) as representative to the CAPA Board in 2007 during the Assembly of Delegates in Osaka. He was also appointed as member of the Strategic & Finance Committee and has contributed significantly to the development of CAPA’s strategic plans and work program since then. CAPA is pleased to announce Dr. In Ki Joo as the new CAPA President, whom will be taking over office from Kamlesh Vikamsey for the term November 2009 to October 2011. He was Deputy President from October 2007 to October 2009 and has served as a Board member of CAPA since July 2004.
Dr. Joo is a Professor of Accounting at the School of Business in Yonsei University Seoul, Korea and is very active in roles related to the accountancy profession through involvement in committees and board of various organisations. | full story >>
The CAPA Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Blood as Chief Executive.
He brings with him finance, business and accounting experience, together with broad leadership skills. He had 27 years with global Big 4 accounting firms, including 16 years as a Partner. In that time he worked across corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors. His career focused on external audit, however, since the mid 1990's has concentrated on building internal audit and business risk advisory practices. | full story >>

The mission of CAPA is to provide leadership in the development, enhancement and coordination of the accountancy profession in the Asia-Pacific region to enable the profession to provide services of consistently high quality in the public interest.
CAPA holds regular conferences that bring together members of the profession from the Asia Pacific region and various other parts of the world. Such conferences are organised at least three times in any ten-year period. Any member country may bid to host the conference.
This will undoubtedly be a major accounting event for the Asia-Pacific region and will bring together members and conference participants from all over the world.
The next CAPA conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia on September 7-9, 2011. The host of this conference are CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
