CAPA has 3 Members in Sri Lanka - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL), Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AATSL) and Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMASL).
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka
The national professional body incorporated by Act of Parliament in September 1959. The Council took over the duties of the Accountancy Board in September 1960. (The Accountancy Board of Sri Lanka was set up under the Companies Auditors Regulations of 1941 to assist in the establishment of the accountancy profession in Sri Lanka)
The Council consists of a President, a Vice President and 14 other members. Eight members are appointed by the Minister of Internal and International Commerce & Food including the immediate Past President and the Auditor General. Seven Members including the Vice President will be elected by the Members of the Institute, from among its Members. The Member of the Institute holding office as Vice-President of the Council shall be deemed to be elected as the President for the next term of office of the Council, by Members of the Institute, unless the Council resolves to the contrary. The term of office of the Council is two years.
The Institute is the sole Accounting & Auditing Standards setting authority in Sri Lanka and the application of such standards are mandatory for business enterprises specified in the schedule of the Sri Lanka Accounting & Auditing Standards Act No. 15 of 1995.
The members are regulated by a Code of Professional Conduct & Ethics prescribed by the Council. About 30% of CASL Member work overseas. Examinations are conducted for Foundation, Intermediate and Final Levels and Practical Training is compulsory.

Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka
Established in December 1987 on the initiative of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL) and was set under the Companies Ordinance as a Company Limited by guarantee. Approval was obtained from the Registrar of Companies to delete the word "Limited". The AAT is also set up under an Act of Parliment.
The governing Council consists of a total of 14 member, 7 niminated from the CASL, 5 elected from the membership and 2 nominees, one each from the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Finance.
The AAT-SL courses are now conducted overseas in the Republic of Maldives. There is an AAT-SL branch in Male, Maldives.

Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka
CMA Sri Lanka was inaugurated in June 2000 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 2009, receiving recognition from the Government as the national professional management accounting body in Sri Lanka. Formation of the Institute was based on guidelines international accounting bodies such as CMA Canada (now known as CPA Canada) and the Institute of Management Accountants of USA.
CMA Sri Lanka has the authority to promote and develop the study of management accountancy, to establish and issue management accountancy standards, and to encourage the application of correct principles, techniques and practices of management accountancy.
CMA Sri Lanka is also a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). It has signed memorandum of understandings with other professional accountancy organisations such as CPA Australia, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, the Institutes of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh and Pakistan and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
