CAPA worked in partnership with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) to organise a seminar titled "Realising the Power of PAOs". The Seminar was held on 17 August 2012 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The focus of this Seminar is to consider the benefits, challenges, and key components involved in the development of a professional accountancy organisation (PAO). Well-functioning PAOs directly advance the ability of the profession to provide high-quality financial reporting, valuable information and integral services to investors, business owners, government and the general public.
The first three parts of this workshop-style seminar included presentations from a number of prestigious speakers representing the donor community, IFAC, the global accountancy profession and PAOs across the region. The fourth was a discussion session during which all attendees talked about the profession in their country and described their own experiences of developing their PAO, in the context of the information provided earlier in the Seminar. In order to get the most benefit from the discussion, attendees from PAOs in the region were encouraged to consider the following:
Jackie Poirier, Chair of CAPA's PAO Development Committee gave a presentation titled "The Regional Approach to PAO Support". Click on the relevant links below for her speech and presentation. The Seminar agenda is provided below.
